Earthwork Programs -- Earthwork offers people experiences in nature that will introduce them to a new awareness of themselves and the natural world around them. Their programs immerse people in nature through Adventure Experiences, Wilderness Living Skills, Nature Awareness, Tracking, Communication and Community Building Skills, and by bringing forth Native teachings from Elders around the world. Earthwork runs their Heron Homeschool program at the Hitchcock Center on Fridays from September to June. Hampshire Bird Club, Inc. -- Amherst, Massachusetts. The Hampshire Bird Club, Inc. (HBC) was organized in 1984. It is an incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The purpose of HBC is to help members and the general public enjoy birding and to educate them about birds, bird watching, and bird habitats. HBC is a good source of information for bird watching newcomers as well as for the more experienced birder. Holyoke Children’s Museum -- The Children's Museum at Holyoke provides a unique setting in which children and adults learn together about art, science and the world around them. Through hands-on exhibits, children challenge themselves, discover how the world works, explore new roles for themselves, and learn by doing. Massachusetts Audubon Society -- Massachusetts Audubon Society, the largest conservation organization in New England, works to preserve the natural world through conservation, education, and environmental advocacy. The New England Naturalist Training Center -- The New England Naturalist Training Center provides a wide range of hands-on ecology and environmental education opportunities. The organization, founded by John Foster, provides lectures for schools, colleges, land trusts, nature centers, libraries, clubs, etc. NENTC also offers private trainings through their field courses. North American Association for Environmental Education -- The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) is a network of professionals, students, and volunteers working in the field of environmental education throughout North America and in over 55 countries around the world. The Orion Society -- The Orion Society is an award-winning publisher, an environmental education organization, and a communications and support network for grassroots environmental and community organizations across North America. It is a nonprofit membership organization with 8000 members, individual and organizational, representing all fifty states and thirty-one foreign countries. Ridebuzz -- Ridebuzz, a newly emerging nonprofit organization, is working to build an innovative ridesharing program in the Pioneer Valley using information technologies to connect passengers and drivers in real-time. This innovative program will drastically reduce our carbon footprint and oil dependency, while systematically funneling resources to people who need them. Stanley
Park -- Two hundred seventy-five acres of gardens, trails,
woods, picnic areas, and recreational facilities in the foothills of the
Berkshires. Frank Stanley Beveridge, founder of Stanley Home Products,
Inc., now Stanhome, Inc., created Stanley Park as part of a boyhood dream
- to create a public park which would provide a tranquil oasis for the
people of Western Massachusetts. In 1949, Stanley Park was formally organized
as a charitable corporation to ensure that Beveridge's dream would come
true for generations. Today, over 250,000 visitors annually enjoy Stanley
Park's facilities. University of Massachusetts, Amherst: Environmental Science Program -- The Environmental Sciences Program prepares students to contribute to the development of solutions to critical environmental problems. Graduates of the program can pursue career opportunities in government agencies, industry, international organizations, consulting firms, analytical laboratories, and educational institutions.
