VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are looking for people who enjoy nature, and who are comfortable with children and adults. Sometimes the Center is quiet, but at other times it can be a busy hive of activity, especially when classes visit for field trips, or when camps are in session. In addition to help on our trails, in the gardens and on light carpentry projects, we especially invite office help. Three hours a week really helps a lot! You can choose to work one day a week, Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. until Noon or Noon to 3 p.m. Volunteers answer phones, re-shelve books in the library, and occasionally help with mailings and preparing materials for craft activities. The schedule is flexible, and we always try to tailor our requests to the interests of individual volunteers. Our small friendly staff is fun to work with: the Hitchcock Center is an upbeat place. If you would like to volunteer, or want more information, please contact Susan Heitker, Center Coordinator, (413) 256-6006 or susan@hitchcockcenter.org. Trail Maintenance Day Trail volunteers are needed to help extend the wheelchair accessible trail and build a new bird viewing deck. Come enjoy the beautiful emerging spring scenery while giving back to the community. Wear work clothes and bring gloves. If you can, let us know in advance if you are coming
-- but showing up on the day is just fine too! We appreciate your help.
HITCHCOCK HEROES
Special thanks to
all of our wonderful volunteers, seasonal staff and contributors this past
season! Without you we would not be where we are today! OFFICE & SPECIAL
PROJECT VOLUNTEERS: Whether you help for one hour or show up every week to staff the reception desk, your time is critical to helping the Center meet its goals. We rely on volunteers for any number of activities from answering phones, to cutting out paper turtles for Preschool, to shredding old administrative documents, to cleaning out the utility closet. Some of the jobs may not be too appealing, but we always seem to find the right people to carry them out! Know that what you do is appreciated! Special thanks goes to our winter volunteers: Deborah Bazer, Ginny Brewer, Julie Gross, Marianne Jakus, Betsey Johnson, Carolyn Mathews, Ann Mileski, Diane Murch, Tony Reiber, Lisa Rock, Sonya Sofield, and Jennifer Unkles. WORK STUDY &
INTERNS: Thank you very much to Emily Simone Rowe, our hard-working Hampshire Work Study student.
COMMUNITY PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS: We wish to give thanks to the following individuals who donated their time as presenters during the Winter Community Program season: Rema Boscov, Douglas Hutcheson, Marianne Jakus, and Amy Vickers. Underwriting
Support: We give the CVS Print Department in Woonsocket, Rhode Island,
our heartfelt thanks for printing our current Community Programs Guide in-kind!
