SUMMARY:What is Carbon Pricing?
DESCRIPTION:Have you been wondering what Carbon Pricing is or what a Carbon Pollution Fee and Rebate would be? It is a broad\, market-based initiative that is critical to lowering carbon emissions.  Virtually all economist support this approach and it has been successfully implemented around the world Massachusetts currently has two bills in the State House (S1821 and H1726) that would put a fee on carbon pollution. MA legislation is particularly important because it can become a model for other states and our country. There is a coalition of groups working to pass these bills. This presentation will include ways that you can help pass this essential legislation. This program is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters. \n\nwith Mary Jo Maffei\, Chair of Carbon Pollution and Rebate Committee\, Climate Action Now\n\nWednesday\, September 27\, 7pm\nFREE\, Registration appreciated \n\n

SUMMARY:Girls into the WIld
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes you just need to run\, explore and play! That’s what we do at Girls into the Wild\, and lots more. Now going into its fourth year\, Girls into the Wild is designed to get girls outside\, playing and engaging with nature in their own way. Instructor Katie Koerten strives to offer games and activities that each girl can participate in at her own comfort level\, from climbing trees\, to playing camouflage in the forest\, to running and whooping wildly through fields – all while noticing the birds that are singing\, the flowers that are blooming and the animals that are leaving tracks behind. Each season we do handmade nature crafts – last year we did weaving\, birdhouse painting and flower fairies. Come build your confidence and show your wild side! Families provide their own transportation to the Hitchcock Center. \nWith Katie Koerten\nAges 8-11\, Grades 3-5\nThursdays\, September 14 – December 14 (no program Nov 23)\nMembers: $355/Non-members: $420\nRegister here \nLimited to 10 participants.
