DESCRIPTION:Winter Forest Bathing at the Hitchcock Center \nWith Todd Lynch\nSaturday\, February 12\, 2pm – 4:30pm \nand/or Saturday\, March 19\, 2pm – 4:30pm\n$25 per class\nREGISTER HERE \nCome experience a guided Forest therapy walk with Todd Lynch\, certified ANFT guide. Forest and Nature Therapy offers us the opportunity to slow down. It re-aligns our rhythms with the landscape\, allowing our senses a respite from everyday demands and uncertainties. It’s a chance to remember our connections to nature and the joyful relationships that await us outside. This guided experience is not a hike or naturalist adventure\, but an opportunity to slow down and allow our bodies to engage all of our senses. Please note that this is not “therapy” as commonly denoted in our culture\, but an offering of a therapeutic way to be in nature. Guides are not trained clinicians; they hold the space to let the forest be the “therapist”. \nWhat to Expect: \nA leisurely walk of about a mile with stops along the way where we will gather and sit. We’ll all wear our masks when we gather together and the walk will be planned in a way to promote safe physical distancing of 6 feet or more between participants. \nWe will focus on our senses to develop an immediate connection with the forest. This is a very relaxed\, slow\, and mindful way of walking. The walk should last about 2-2.5 hours and we will finish with a gathering circle where we can share about our experiences..

DESCRIPTION:Winter Forest Bathing at the Hitchcock Center \nWith Todd Lynch\nSaturday\, February 12\, 2pm – 4:30pm \nand/or Saturday\, March 19\, 2pm – 4:30pm\n$25 per class\nREGISTER HERE \nCome experience a guided Forest therapy walk with Todd Lynch\, certified ANFT guide. Forest and Nature Therapy offers us the opportunity to slow down. It re-aligns our rhythms with the landscape\, allowing our senses a respite from everyday demands and uncertainties. It’s a chance to remember our connections to nature and the joyful relationships that await us outside. This guided experience is not a hike or naturalist adventure\, but an opportunity to slow down and allow our bodies to engage all of our senses. Please note that this is not “therapy” as commonly denoted in our culture\, but an offering of a therapeutic way to be in nature. Guides are not trained clinicians; they hold the space to let the forest be the “therapist”. \nWhat to Expect: \nA leisurely walk of about a mile with stops along the way where we will gather and sit. We’ll all wear our masks when we gather together and the walk will be planned in a way to promote safe physical distancing of 6 feet or more between participants. \nWe will focus on our senses to develop an immediate connection with the forest. This is a very relaxed\, slow\, and mindful way of walking. The walk should last about 2-2.5 hours and we will finish with a gathering circle where we can share about our experiences..

Girls into the Wild is designed to get girls outside\, playing and engaging with nature in their own way. Instructor Katie Koerten strives to offer games and activities that each girl can participate in at her own comfort level\, from climbing trees\, to playing camouflage in the forest\, to running and whooping wildly through fields. Even in winter we’ll spend the entirety of the afternoon outside so bring your warmest layers and come have some snowy fun! Together we will run\, jump\, climb\, invent\, imagine\, play and be a free-range kids all while developing self-confidence and learning valuable social skills. During Winter Nature Play\, we make snow forts\, sled\, find animal tracks\, play games in the dark and use our imagination as we explore the wooded trails and fields. DESCRIPTION:Do you love science and nature? Do you want to see what the Hitchcock Homeschool program is all about? Sign up for our Discovery Days\, our one-time programs about science and nature. In a mixed-age setting\, we explore cool topics at the Hitchcock Center\, meet science experts\, and sometimes go on field trips. Our Discovery Day programs are appropriate for everyone from first time to veteran homeschoolers\, and we welcome almost-6 year olds who are interested in joining our class in the spring. This is designed as a drop-off program. Limited to 12 participants per program. \nJune 11: Life in a Pond with Katie Koerten\nLiving in the pond isn’t easy\, but dragonflies nymphs\, whirligig beetles and and giant water bugs have what it takes! SUMMARY:In Bloom in Western MA Conference
DESCRIPTION:Antioch University’s first conference on nature-based early childhood education took place in Keene\, New Hampshire\, in 2012. In Bloom has provided focused professional development for teachers seeking to naturalize existing programs and start new ones ever since. Each conference program includes keynote presentations from nationally and internationally recognized speakers along with interactive\, outdoor workshops facilitated by a diverse array of early childhood professionals\, higher education faculty\, environmental educators\, mindfulness practitioners and naturalists. Twenty In Bloom conferences have taken place to date in locations ranging from the coast of California to the coast of Maine. They’ve energized the nature-based early childhood movement in public and independent schools\, nature centers and childcare programs\, encouraging children\, teachers and communities to strengthen their connection to nature. \nThe 2018-2019 school year kicks off with In Bloom in Santa Barbara on November 3\, hosted by Antioch University Santa Barbara and the Orfalea Family Children’s Center. Antioch University New England follows with three spring conferences. Mud season in March brings In Bloom to Brattleboro\, Vermont\, then on to Kittery\, Maine\, in April. DESCRIPTION:Sometimes you just need to run\, explore and play! That’s what we do at Girls into the Wild\, and lots more. Girls into the Wild is designed to get girls outside\, playing and engaging with nature in their own way. Instructor Katie Koerten strives to offer games and activities that each girl can participate in at her own comfort level\, from climbing trees\, to playing camouflage in the forest\, to running and whooping wildly through fields. Even in winter we’ll spend the entirety of the afternoon outside so bring your warmest layers and come have some snowy fun!
