Giving Tuesday! You Can Help at This Crucial Time!
The Hitchcock Center is providing COVID-safe environmental education to children, families, teachers and other community members. We have forged ahead despite the necessary limitations on gathering and a critical loss of revenue from cancelled fundraising events — all due to the pandemic. Our award-winning programs, which foster environmental stewardship and understanding, also improve a child’s social, academic, physical and psychological health.
Given the financial challenges that so many are facing, we have launched a new sliding-scale fee structure to offer discounts of 25%–50% of the actual program cost for families with low incomes. Children from financially stressed families now make up 38% of our total fall program enrollment.
Please support this work! We have tightened our belts and are offering many important resources to our community, including our:
- Virtual field trips and classroom programs to help schools and families advance children’s STEM comprehension,
- Teacher trainings to share our expertise with educators so they can shift their in-person classroom time to the outdoors,
- In-person, inquiry-based, small-group outdoor programs, with a heightened focus on meeting the need that children have for unstructured time with their peers,
- Western Mass Youth Climate Summit, held in partnership with Mass Audubon Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, to empower teams of high school students from up and down the Connecticut River Valley.
To support this programming we need to raise $60,000 on this day of giving. Can you make a donation to help?
Outdoor learning. Equitable access. Leadership development. Teacher support. Safe instruction. Please support this hopeful work and give as generously as you can. Thank you!
