It’s back! Our third annual Battle of the Botanicals returns to the PowerHouse at Amherst College with an outstanding line-up of teams from our region’s hottest restaurants.

Buy your tickets HERE.

This year, a record nine teams are filling the Powerhouse and outdoor patio with amazing culinary and craft cocktail creations. With 3 brand new teams joining this year’s Battle, join us to see who makes it to the competition stage and takes home the crown in the toughest year of competition yet!

If you’ve never been to the Battle before, this is your year — more teams, more botanicals, more fun as these talented chefs & mixologists serve up appetizers and cocktails each featuring a unique botanical: ginger, peas, dandelion and more.

Indulge in the offerings at all 9 stations, vote for your favorite to help determine who goes head-to-head in the mystery box cocktail mix-off challenge (hosted by 93.9 The River’s spectacular Joan Holliday), enjoy the summer evening on the outdoor patio, recline in the mezzanine lounge with DJ Just Joan – you won’t want to miss this evening of great food, fun, and entertainment, all for the benefit of the Hitchcock Center’s innovative year-round environmental education!

New this year: our special VIP ticket provides you with early access to the event — beat the crowd! — where you receive an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour with this year’s teams starting at 5:15.  Hear about their techniques and approach to the competition, learn about the botanical features they selected, and enjoy a complimentary beer or wine from the cash bar. Our VIP ticket-holders also receive reserved space to view the competition in comfort during the event, from the entry-level mezzanine directly facing the stage, above the bustle of the crowd. Only 50 VIP tickets are available!

Sample them all, and vote for your favorite to help determine which 3 teams will advance to the cocktail competition round. Additonal beer, wine, and soft drinks are available for purchase at our cash bar. And, you can take home the recipes for recreating these delights with our keepsake recipe book event program.

Join us in inspiring the next generation of environmental problem-solvers!

Do I need to bring my ticket with me to enter?

Yes, please either save your ticket(s) to your Eventbrite app to show at the door, or print and bring them with you from your purchase confirmation email.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The Battle of the Botanicals is a strictly ages 21 and up event. Attendees will be asked to show ID at the door.

How does the voting and competition work?

At check-in, you will receive 1 entry to vote for your favorite cocktail station. There are two voting stations (one indoor, one outdoor), where you can place your entry into the bowl for your favorite team. Voting closes at 7:30pm. We’ll tally the votes at 7:30, and the top 3 voted teams will send their mixologists to the competition stage for a fast-paced cocktail mix-off, hosted by 93.9 The River’s Joan Holliday and judged by a panel of local notables: Monte Belmonte, Michael Kusek, and Jordana Starr. Only one mixologist will be crowned the winner!

Where do I park for this event?

The Powerhouse is located on East Drive — but there is NO public parking on East Dr. There is FREE parking available to you in either of the two nearby Amherst College lots: The O’Connell Lot on Dickinson Street (directly opposite East Drive) and the Hills Lot (just beyond East Drive, right after the purple and white rail bridge).
