Love kids? Love the outdoors? Come be an afterschool program assistant at the Hitchcock Center. The Hitchcock Center’s Nature Play Afterschool Program is designed for kids to follow their curiosity in the mud, fields, and forests with their friends. Research has shown that unstructured play has enormous benefits for children’s wellbeing, imaginations, emotional health and self esteem. In this work study position, assistants help out with all aspects of the program: supervision, playing games, exploring nature, and supporting children through their highs and lows. Afterschool assistants must have a playful spirit, be mindful of safety, and have a lot of energy. Assistants must also be prepared for all weather, as we rarely retreat indoors! See our current lineup of afterschool programs here.
