Support Us

The Hitchcock Center is a community-supported organization: 40% of our operating budget each year comes from individual contributions. Our members and supporters come from 25 states, as well as community-minded businesses and organizations. We invite you to join us in our mission to educate and to inspire action for a healthy planet!

Your tax-deductible gift today helps to harness the power of education and build the next generation of environmental problem solvers.

Campaign in Honor of Julie Johnson

The Hitchcock Center for the Environment is pleased to announce an inspiring new teaching resource for our community: the Julie M. Johnson Teaching Gardens.

Designed using regenerative principles that are in keeping with the Living Building Challenge, these gardens are the final piece of the Center’s Outdoor Classroom, which serves as an important educational extension of the Center’s award-winning Certified Living Building.

Building for the Future Capital Campaign

The Hitchcock Center is the 23rd Living Building in the world! Through our Building for the Future Campaign, we have successfully raised over $6M to build a pioneering destination for environmental learning that demonstrates the power and possibility of building for a sustainable, equitable future.

Help be a part of this visionary project as we create our outdoor play and learning spaces! Your gift today will help us to serve more of our community with our newest educator (our building and site!) and the unparalleled resources it supports.

Giving Tuesday

December 1, 2020 is Giving Tuesday — a global day of online giving. Support education for a healthy planet by making a donation to the Hitchcock Center.

Biothon/Flora and Fauna Fest

2020 marks our 21st annual search for species!

This coming spring, our Flora & Fauna Fest nature challenge returns with an afternoon of scouring (gently) the trails here at the Hitchcock Center, in search of as many species as we can find! Or, grab some friends and organize a “Biothon” outing of your own, at a different time and location of your choosing.

Your participation not only supports community science as we document the species we find in a global database, but you also help to raise funds for the Hitchcock Center!

Scholarship Gifts

Our Nature Summer Camp programs help young people to discover the wonders of nature, make new friends, and develop self-esteem during these critical non-school months. Scholarship gifts in any amount allow us to support more youth from low-income households in building positive outdoor experiences and developing a lifelong connection to our natural world.

Visit our Scholarship Fund page for more information, or send an email to Jeff Mazur, Camp Director.

Planned Gifts

Each of us leaves a legacy – what will yours be? Your planned gift to the Hitchcock Center helps to ensure that future generations have access to innovative educational experiences immersed in the outdoors. A planned gift can include a bequest in your will, naming the Hitchcock Center as a beneficiary of your retirement assets, or other giving strategies such as charitable remainder trusts. To learn more, contact your financial advisor, or visit our Planned Giving Glossary.

For more information about planned giving to the Hitchcock Center, please send an email to Rebecca Neimark, of Development.
