The Hitchcock Center for the Environment, located on the campus of Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental education.

Established in 1962, the center offers year-round programs for children and adults, focusing on ecological literacy and sustainability. In 2016, the Hitchcock Center opened a 9,000-square-foot facility designed to meet the standards of the Living Building Challenge. The building serves as both a functional space and a teaching tool, demonstrating principles of energy efficiency, water conservation, and the use of non-toxic materials.
