Virtual Saturday Family Science

Water is Amazing
Saturday, June 6, 10am
with Aemelia Thompson

For this Saturday Science we’ll be getting our hands wet. This week we’ll be exploring topics around the magnificent powers of water. Some of our experiments will look at science principles like  buoyancy and density, and others will explore water in our world.

*** We will do a water experiment together during our live session this week. If you would like to do the experiment with me bring a cup of water, 2 paper clips, and a paper towel***

Join Aemelia Thompson at 10am on Saturday, June 6th for the live stream portion of Virtual Saturday Science.

Pre-Live Stream Activities

Feel free to engage with whichever activities you can before our interactive session on Saturday. It is not required to do the activities but it might help learners engage more fully with the concepts. Have fun!

Learn

In this short video Hitchcock Educator Aemelia, explains the water cycle and underscores the importance of water in our world.

Explore

How many pennies can you float? Try one of the Hitchcock Centers favorite  buoyancy experiments! Build a boat out of tin foil and see how many pennies it will hold.

See the water cycle in action by making your own water cycle at home inside a bottle.

Explore the concept of density simply in this experiment using an egg, salt and water.

Make

Make a beautiful ice mosaic while experimenting with ice and salt!
